We’ve Been Featured in The Scout Guide, Denver

Organized by Meg ®️ is honored to be featured in Volume 11 of The Scout Guide Denver. The Scout Guide is a locally owned national brand dedicated to supporting small businesses in cities from coast to coast. I am thrilled to be included amongst other amazing small and local businesses in my new city of Denver. I have been living here nearly two years, in Littleton, a suburb of Denver, and have been fortunate enough to have made many amazing friends, patronize many local establishments, and have been referred to many service providers by the wonderful people I meet in my daily life - through my professional organizing business, my social life, and the busy lives of my kids.

Here are three of my favorite reasons to support local businesses:

1: make personal connections with interesting people

Unique people (people are, by the definition, unique) and one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants makes your city a great place to live in and explore. Denver, like other big cities, is no exception. Whether you live in Denver, or in a suburb of Denver, shopping locally ensures that you will meet interesting people with varying interests and passions who are likely selling homemade or locally made products and employ many local residents. Their services, retail shops, cafes and restaurants are not tied to national chains. These business owners are full of thoughts, passions, and a love for what they are doing. They naturally form personal connections with their customers because they have a desire to serve them, and therefore listen intently and deliver what these clients truly desire. It feels so good to connect with people around us and have an appreciation for what they offer our community. Relationships and social connections are good for our health and well being. These relationships can be fostered by being out and about in our communities, meeting and conversing with all of the people and businesses around us. If you are new to Denver, or any community for that matter, I encourage you to ask the locals where they shop (and also hike, and ski - there’s so much to do here in sunny Colorado!)

2. better service and increased expertise

A local business owner is going to be very passionate about their products and services - that is why they are a business owner! They are more likely to take a lot more time getting to know their customers and going above and beyond to help them. As a business owner and service provider, my number one goal is to create an excellent customer service experience - so that my clients are 100% satisfied and that they are likely to talk about me and my local professional home organizing services to others in the Denver area.

A local business owner is also going to be an expert in their field - they have to be able to compete with bigger companies. Use these business owners as a source for expert opinions about their products and services. And because these owners get to know their customers well, as mentioned before, they can tailor their services and product inventories to match the goods and services that the local community wants. In the end, this all leads to a better customer service experience for you, the buyer.

I know that I personally am willing to give answers on anything in the home organizing industry to anyone who asks - whether you plan to hire my company for its services or not - I truly want everyone to benefit from the benefits that living an organized life brings. If that means telling you that I don’t know the answer to what you are asking me but I can find it, then I’ll say just that. I want to be known as a resource and problem solver. If that means referring you to another organizing professional in Denver or in your farther away location, I am happy to connect you with someone whose services are a better fit for you.

3. keep money local and support local jobs

Our communities are funded by local sales tax collections (made by these local and small businesses) and help fund vital services like police departments, fire companies, trash collection services and road maintenance. These social services are a part of our everyday lives and are obviously important to keep sufficiently funded.

When you buy from local firms, shops and restaurants, you are supporting all of the workers employed there. Simple as that. And if those local business owners are selling locally made products (like from farmers, artists and other creatives), your purchases support even more local jobs. Now that is something to really feel good about!

live. love. local.

Do not underestimate the passion and heart of local and small business owners! We are driven by a passion to serve you with our work or our products -if we weren’t, we’d all be working much easier jobs. When you buy the products and services of small business owners, you are not just buying what they are selling - you are buying a piece of their heart, as corny as it sounds. My work as a hands-on home organizer and business owner fulfills me in ways I never thought it could, especially coming from a corporate background working for a Fortune 500 company. I left that job in 2019 after reaching burnout, and seriously contemplating how I was spending my time. Now, I absolutely love to be in a creative role, and feel like I’m making a difference by providing hands-on help to my local community using skills that come naturally to me but don’t to others. It’s no easy task to be self employed, and to employ other local women as well, but it’s beyond gratifying to be able to do both! I feel that I should also mention it’s been a lifelong dream of mine to open an ice cream and candy shop, and this business would undoubtedly start local and small. Keep an eye out for that in future years!
